How to use the editor?

Your Character Sheet will consist of many modular Elements, like Text Elements, Number Elements, Column Elements, and much more. Those Elements will be displayed below each other in the Main Container. Some Elements, can act as a Container themselves. For example, a Columns Element can contain many Elements which will be shown as two or three columns.

In Layout Mode you can add or move Elements and change their settings. To enter Layout Mode, click the lock icon in the header at the top of the page. While Layout Mode is active, all Elements are outlined with a dashed border and given extra spacing, to make it easier to select them on a touch device. To exit Layout Mode, click the same button again.

Hint: You cannot edit text, change numbers, or toggle checkboxes when in Layout Mode. Exit Layout Mode to do so.

To add an Element to your Character Sheet, you need to enter Layout Mode, then click the plus icon in the header. Select which type of Element you want to add, then place it in your Character Sheet.

Placing an Element in your layout is a two step process: First, you choose which container you want to place the Element inside, by clicking one of the containers outlined with a dashed border. The selected container will then be outlined with a solid border. Next, you choose the position inside the container by clicking on one of the outlined Elements. The new Element will be placed before the selected Element.

To move an Element, click on the Element while Layout Mode is active, then click on the move icon. You can then choose the new position for the Element. You can also duplicate an Element by clicking on the Element while in Layout Mode, then clicking on the duplicate icon and selecting a position for the new Element. To delete an Element, select the Element while in Layout Mode, then click on the trash bin icon.

To change an Elements settings, click on the Element while Layout Mode is active, then click on the wrench icon.

Which Elements are available?

The Text Element is used to display editable text content, like the name of your character, the name and description of a spell, or a list of your equipment. A Text Element can contain as much text as you like, use basic formatting like bold, italic or underlined text, as well as different text sizes. Note: Text cannot be edited when in Layout Mode.

The Number Element is used to show a numeric value like your hit points, sanity, or number of remaining spell slots. You can change the value by typing a number, or using the plus and minus icons that appear below the number when you click it.
In the settings, you can add a maximum value which is displayed next to the input. You can also change the text size of the number there.

A Checkbox Element can be used to display a checkbox that you can check and uncheck with a single click. You can use this for any number of things, like showing which spells you have prepared, or weather you have activated a certain ability at the moment.

The Collapsible Element can be used to organize your Elements into groups that you can show and hide with a single click. This can be useful to hide long passages of text that you rarely need, like your characters backstory, or build a long list of spells each with its spell description that can be revealed as needed. A Collapsible element consists of two containers – one for the "headline" of the Element, which is always shown – and one for all the Elements you want to be able to hide.

The Columns Element is used to show Elements in multiple columns. Each Element inside the Columns Element will be shown as a new column. In the settings of this Element, you can choose if the Elements are shown in either two or three columns. Hint: To group Elements inside a Column, use the Box Element.

A Box Element can be used to group Elements together. In the settings, you can choose if the contained Elements are shown below one another or next to each other in a row. For example, you can show a Checkbox Element and Text Element on the same row by grouping them together with a Box Element.

The Separator Element can be used to add a horizontal line between Elements.

Lastly, using the Bookmark Element, you can add bookmarks in your layout. The Bookmark Element is only visible while in Layout Mode, but you can open the main menu to list all Bookmarks and jump straight to a bookmark by clicking on it. In the settings of the Element, you can enter the name of an icon, and a text label. Hint: You can find a list of all available icons here. Simply copy the icon name into the settings.

How to save a Character Sheet?

When you create a Character Sheet, it is saved locally in your browser. Important: You can only store one Character Sheet locally. When you create a new Character Sheet (or duplicate an existing one), your local Character Sheet will be overwritten and lost!

To save your Character Sheet permanently, view it on another device, or share it with someone, you have to upload the Character Sheet. To upload a Character Sheet, click the upload icon in the header at the top of the page. You do not have to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to upload a Character Sheet. But to be able to edit the Character Sheet later, you need to save the Edit URL!

The Edit URL can be used to open and edit the Character Sheet from any device. To get the Edit URL of the Character Sheet, open the Main Menu. The Edit URL is listed under the headline "Online Character Sheet".

If you want to share a Character Sheet with someone, but do not want them to be able to edit the Character Sheet, you can send them the View URL. The View URL can be used to open a Character Sheet in read-only mode.
